Jack was born in Louisville, Kentucky into a family deeply embedded in the thoroughbred racing industry. Jack’s father, Logan, spent 60 years in the horse business primarily as an owner and trainer, following a short stint as a jockey in the 1920’s. As a youngster, Fischer would spend weekends helping with the horses and continued to do so through high school. After 10 years in an office job following college, Jack couldn’t resist the urge to enter back into the horse business, becoming a full time owner and trainer in 1972 and spent 20 years following the circuit from his home base at Churchill Downs, racing primarily in the Midwest. After a very successful career Jack retired in 1992 finishing as a racing official at Tampa Bay Downs. Jack’s love of horses is contagious and he is a wonderful asset to our team here at Equestrian Inc.
Carol is from Rockford, Illinois and spent much of her childhood watching her father’s Thoroughbreds race at tracks from Arlington Park in Chicago to Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida. It was a natural transition for her to enter the horse show world with a series of American Saddlebreds. Her favorite horse was Chief’s Treasure. He was a handsome 3 gaited gelding who was a regular winner on the show circuit. Carol moved to Florida 27 years ago and she began work at SunTrust Bank as a trust portfolio manager. She retired from banking and was looking for volunteer work with horses when she found Equestrian Inc. She feels a fulfillment when working with the horses at Equestrian Inc., and loves to see the wonderful change that comes over the horses when they arrive at the farm. Some experience, for the first time, a sense of calm and peace that had been missing in their lives. She states that “It’s truly the most gratifying feeling to watch them finally realize they are safe and loved.”
